Photos Of What Was Left After Kimani Wamatangi's Business Was Destroyed By The Govt

Businesses linked to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi were demolished overnight for the second time, this time along Douglas Wakihuri Road behind Nyayo Stadium, in an operation carried out under heavy police presence.

The demolitions happened late at night, with security officers sealing off the area as bulldozers moved in. Witnesses said the exercise was swift and tightly guarded, leaving little room for intervention.

The affected premises reportedly housed several businesses, including a car wash and carpet cleaning service. Vehicles parked within the compound were also damaged or destroyed during the operation.

This latest demolition comes just days after another structure linked to the governor was brought down in Kiambu County. That earlier operation targeted an ECDE facility in Mangu Ward, Gatundu North.

Residents and business owners say the demolitions appear coordinated and are being conducted at night to avoid public attention. Some described the scenes as tense, with police officers restricting movement around the sites.

Photos taken after the exercise show flattened structures, scattered debris, and damaged equipment. The once busy business area was reduced to rubble by morning.

The demolitions have sparked fresh debate, with questions being raised about selective enforcement and the timing of the operations. Supporters of the governor claim the actions are politically motivated, while others argue the law must be applied equally.

Authorities have not issued a detailed public statement explaining why the businesses were targeted overnight. It remains unclear whether prior notices were issued or if the demolitions were linked to land ownership or planning violations.

As the dust settles, attention is now shifting to what steps Governor Wamatangi and affected business owners will take next, as calls grow for clarity and transparency from the government.
