Fresh details have emerged regarding the sudden death of Makueni County CEC for Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Sonia Nzilani, following the release of an official autopsy report.
According to lead pathologist Dr. Ancient Kituku, Dr. Nzilani died from cardiac tamponade, a life-threatening condition caused by fluid accumulating in the sac surrounding the heart. This buildup prevents the heart from functioning properly, ultimately leading to cardiac arrest if not treated immediately.
Dr. Kituku further revealed that the late CEC had been diagnosed with the same heart condition 12 years ago and had been on long-term medication to manage it.
Despite continuous treatment, the condition can worsen suddenly, which is believed to have been the case in her final moments.
Her death has left Makueni County in deep mourning, with leaders and residents celebrating her as a dedicated public servant who contributed greatly to the region’s economic and cultural development.
As tributes continue to pour in, the autopsy provides clarity and closure to a loss that has shocked many across the country.
