When the police arrived, they found the body of Jackline with horrifying injuries: severe burns, a missing right upper arm and breast, and visible head trauma. The remains were transferred to the Kerugoya County Referral Hospital morgue for preservation and a detailed postmortem.
After the incident, detectives launched an intensive manhunt. Forensic evidence led them to the first suspect, Collins Muchira Ngege. After interrogation, he directed the officers to two other suspected accomplices: John Brian Kimotho Kamau and Stephen Muchiri Karani. The three are now in custody.
