New Leadership Cracks Revealed In ODM After Junet Said This

Fresh cracks have emerged within the Orange Democratic Movement after Suna East MP Junet Mohamed issued a strong warning to party members insisting that ODM will field candidates in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a political engagement, Junet stated that final authority within the party rests with Oburu Odinga, making it clear that decisions on the party’s political direction will not be influenced by pressure from opposing individuals.

According to Junet, claims that ODM is preparing to field candidates in 2027 are misleading and do not reflect the current internal position of the party leadership. He cautioned members against making such public declarations that could tarnish the party's image.

Junet stressed that ODM operates under clear structures and discipline, noting that individuals pushing alternative narratives are acting on personal interests rather than party consensus. He warned that such actions risk causing unnecessary confusion among supporters.

The legislator further emphasized that Oburu Odinga, as the party’s chairperson, holds the final say on critical party matters. He said loyalty to party leadership is essential at a time when ODM is reassessing its role in national politics.

His remarks have exposed growing unease within ODM, with differing opinions emerging on whether the party should actively contest the next election or pursue alternative political arrangements.

Political analysts say Junet’s statement signals deeper internal disagreements that may shape ODM’s future alliances and positioning ahead of 2027. The comments have also reignited debate about succession, authority and decision making within the party.

ODM leadership has not issued an official response clarifying its 2027 plans. However, the latest remarks suggest internal negotiations and power dynamics remain unresolved as the political landscape continues to shift.
