The notice dated December 16 states that there are 1,000 teaching posts available through the Ministry of Education’s State Department of Vocational and Technical Training.
Out of the 1,000 job opportunities, 600 are reserved for trainers with a degree or HND qualification, while the other 400 are for trainers with a Diploma.
The recruitment process targets TVET institutions spread geographically across the nation and includes major municipalities and other counties that have historically been underserved in the provision of technical training.
This strategy is indicative of the government's dedication to improving access to quality vocational education and ensuring equitable allocation of trained trainers.
The top-selling job categories include teaching (36% of all job ads), customer service (23% of all job ads), accounting (17% of all job ads), IT (12% of all job ads), and management (10% of all job ads). Teaching is the most common job type. There is 1 job posting for every 30 job seekers. The top 5 job categories that were posted last
The educational drive also aims at the dry counties to cover wider regional representation. Turkana County has a total of nine job opportunities in thefour institutions, Mandera has 10, Wajir has 11, and Garissa has eight teaching slots.
This recruitment drive is a major part of a recruitment exercise that specifically targets institutions that need more than one trainer. Twenty-four TVET institutions, including National Polytechnics and major Technical Training Institutions, are hiring a maximum of 10 trainers.
All these institutions comprise a major part of the entire hiring campaign and demonstrate that the government wants to augment its hiring where it is needed the most.
The TVET recruitment initiative is anticipated to boost TVET institutions in regard to filling a significant gap in lecturing faculty and contributing towards a Kenyan economic agenda.
Interested candidates are advised to read the recruitment guidelines carefully in order to take advantage of the job opportunities available nationally. This initiative not only offers jobs to qualified teachers but also increases the country’s ability to train a competent workforce to meet industrial requirements; this is therefore a major component of the development of the country in terms of training.
