Fresh Details Reveal The Woman That Was With Jirongo The Night He Died

New information is coming to light as detectives step up their investigations into the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, with increasing attention on his last movements and the people he interacted with in the hours before the fatal road crash. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has widened its investigation from the scene of the accident at Karai in Naivasha and is now zeroing in on what Jirongo was doing earlier that night in Nairobi and along the Naivasha route.

Investigators are taking statements from multiple individuals, including those present at a meeting held at a restaurant in Karen shortly before midnight. As part of reconstructing his last hours, detectives are also looking through reports indicating that Jirongo may have had a female companion earlier in the night before he started his journey towards Naivasha. The police have, however, not shed light on any companion, maintaining that all information under review is part of a broader investigation.

Recovered CCTV footage from a petrol station near the site of the accident has now become central to the probe into the accident. According to sources, it shows Jirongo briefly stopping at the petrol station in the early hours of the morning and rejoining the highway moments before colliding with a public service vehicle. The impact of the crash was hard, pushing both vehicles a considerable distance away from the point of collision.

They had managed to lock down major exhibits and initiated thorough forensic analyses. Statements have been recorded from the driver of the bus and was released on cash bail pending the outcome of investigations. The assurance by DCI is that all the relevant witnesses, both passengers and staff of the station, are being interviewed and a comprehensive file forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions once inquiries are complete.
