On Friday president William Ruto presided over the Jamhuri celebrations that were held at the Nyayo Stadium.
As is custom the president arrived last as the lead guest and did the customs as they happen during all national holidays.
One thing however caught the attention of Kenyans on this particular day, the car that Ruto drive while heading to Nyayo.
As seen by this writer in the videos and photos shared on the internet, the car was a Mercedes S class 560.
The luxury car had the public seal as the registration number meaning it is a presidential state vehicle.
Immediately Kenyans saw the car they started to talk about the luxury of president Ruto and started to debate how much it would have cost taxpayers.
Some people wondered where the government had taken the presidential limousine that former president Uhuru Kenyatta had used during his time in office.
While some Kenyans have praised him for upgrading government machinery and infrastructure, critics have taken the opportunity to accuse him of wasting resources for personal use.
