Ndindi Nyoro has claimed he was promised the position of Deputy President if he helped mobilise Members of Parliament from Murang’a County to support the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. The MP made the revelation during an interview on Inooro TV, where he spoke openly about his fallout with President William Ruto.
According to Nyoro, the proposal was presented to him during private political engagements at the height of the impeachment discussions. He said the expectation was that Murang’a MPs would form a solid voting bloc to push the process through Parliament.
Nyoro told the station that he declined the offer, saying he was not willing to trade his values for political advancement. He explained that his refusal immediately strained his relationship with the President and senior figures within the government.
He noted that while the impeachment plan was a major trigger of their fallout, tensions between him and President Ruto had existed even before the proposal was made. Nyoro said the relationship had been weakening quietly due to disagreements on leadership style and political direction.
The legislator revealed that pressure was mounting on leaders from key regions during the impeachment period. He said loyalty and numbers were being closely monitored behind the scenes.
Nyoro stated that he was expected to quietly persuade fellow MPs without drawing public attention. He added that the promise of the deputy presidency was presented as a reward for delivering results.
Since the fallout, Nyoro said his influence within government circles has reduced significantly. He claimed his access to senior decision making spaces dropped after rejecting the plan.
The President’s allies have not responded publicly to the claims. No official statement has been issued to confirm or deny the allegations.
His remarks have sparked renewed debate about internal divisions within the ruling coalition. Political observers say the claims highlight the deep trust issues shaping Kenya’s succession politics.
