According to Cherargei, Khalwale publicly defied his sponsoring party by campaigning against the official UDA candidate a move he claims amounts to political indiscipline that cannot be ignored.
Cherargei claims that Khalwale's conduct during the campaign period belittled the Kenya Kwanza administration and presented the ruling coalition as divided at a critical moment. He says Khalwale's utterances against UDA and his support for a rival candidate amount to contempt, adding that such an act sends a dangerous signal to party members who may also be tempted to rebel.
The senator insists that the Political Parties Act should be enforced to restore discipline within UDA and across the political landscape.
He says Khalwale must face consequences to set an example that no leader, regardless of seniority or influence, should undermine their own party. Cherargei says that if strict action is not taken, political hygiene will continue to deteriorate and weaken party structures and electoral strategy in readiness for 2027.
He further warns that UDA cannot tolerate members who sabotage the party from within, especially during elections. Cherargei maintains that disciplining Khalwale will reaffirm the importance of loyalty and collective responsibility in a political party.
