Check Where Uhuru Kenyatta Was Spotted While On A Peace Mission

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been spotted in Lomé, Togo, as he continues his diplomatic role in efforts to restore peace in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to an update released on Thursday, the former Kenyan head of state arrived in the West African nation ahead of a high level working session on the African Union (AU) led mediation process for the conflict-ridden eastern DRC. Uhuru is serving as the AU appointed mediator, a role that has seen him engage regional leaders and international partners in search of a lasting solution to the crisis.

The meeting in Lomé is expected to bring together key stakeholders involved in the peace process, focusing on renewed diplomatic engagement, ceasefire enforcement, and coordination between regional blocs involved in stabilising eastern Congo. The region has for years suffered from armed conflict involving multiple militias, leading to massive displacement and humanitarian challenges.

Uhuru’s presence in Togo emphasizes his continued influence on continental peace and security matters even after leaving office. Since the end of his presidency, he has remained active in international diplomacy, particularly under the African Union, where he has been tasked with handling some of the continent’s most delicate peace missions.

Photos and briefings from Lomé show the former president engaging with senior officials ahead of the session, reinforcing Kenya’s long-standing role in regional peace-building and mediation.

As fighting and political tensions persist in eastern DRC, the outcome of the AU led talks remains critical, with many hoping the renewed push will help unlock progress toward stability and lasting peace in the region.
