Cost of the Car Ruto Was Spotted Driving That Has Left People Talking

President William Ruto has sparked fresh public discussion after he was spotted driving an INEOS Grenadier 4×4, a high end off road vehicle that has quickly drawn attention due to its price and rugged design.

The INEOS Grenadier is estimated to be worth about Ksh 14 million, depending on specifications, taxes, and import duties. The vehicle is designed as a modern replacement for the classic Land Rover Defender and is built for extreme terrain, durability, and long distance travel.

The Grenadier is powered by a BMW-sourced engine, available in petrol or diesel variants, and comes with advanced off road features such as permanent four wheel drive, locking differentials, high ground clearance, and a ladder frame chassis making it suitable for rough rural terrain.

However, the sighting has also triggered debate among Kenyans, especially online, with critics questioning the optics of using a Ksh 14 million luxury off road vehicle at a time when the country is grappling with a high cost of living and economic pressure on ordinary citizens.

Supporters, on the other hand, argue that the President’s security and work demands require reliable, high-performance vehicles capable of handling all terrains safely.
