Sifuna Reveals How A Plan To Embarrass Him In Kakamega Backfired On His Enemies

Embattled ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has opened up about what he describes as a carefully laid plan to humiliate him during a meeting in Kakamega, a plan that he says ended up backfiring spectacularly on those who organized it.

Sifuna confirmed that the Kakamega meeting was indeed stormy, as has been widely reported, but he offered a very different account of events from the one being pushed by Oburu Odinga.

According to Sifuna, he was actually the intended target of the chaos at the meeting. He revealed that a plan had been put in place by certain individuals to have people in the crowd shout specific things designed to embarrass him publicly and to do so right in front of his party leader, making the humiliation all the more damaging.

However, things did not go according to that script. The plan fell apart and backfired on those who had organized it, leaving Sifuna standing rather than stumbling.

What makes the situation more intriguing is how Oburu has chosen to narrate the same events. Rather than acknowledge the failed scheme, Oburu has flipped the story entirely, claiming that it was actually Sifuna himself who arranged for the crowd to be there chanting in his support as a show of strength.

Sifuna has rejected that version of events as a distortion of what truly happened on the ground that day.

The back and forth between Sifuna and Oburu points to deepening tensions within ODM as different factions jostle for influence ahead of a critical period in the party's transition and the broader opposition movement's future direction.
