Jimmy Wanjigi Warns Ruto, Tells Him The Dangers Of Giving IDs To Non-Kenyans

Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto over allegations that his administration has been issuing Kenyan national identity documents to non-citizens, describing the practice as dangerous and one that will have serious consequences for the country and for Ruto himself.

Wanjigi was direct and unambiguous in his message. He said Ruto has no business giving non-Kenyans a passport, and warned that the regime would pay a price for what he described as a reckless disregard for the integrity of Kenya's citizenship process. His warning was aimed both at the immediate legal implications and at the longer term political fallout that he believes will inevitably follow.

The statement comes against the backdrop of growing speculation that the Ruto administration has been issuing national identity documents to Somali nationals in a calculated move to inflate the voter register ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The allegations suggest that the beneficiaries of these documents would then vote in favour of Ruto, giving him an artificial numerical advantage in areas where such registrations are concentrated.

If the allegations are true, the implications go far beyond electoral manipulation. Issuing citizenship documents to non-Kenyans undermines national security, strains public resources, and erodes the very meaning of Kenyan identity.

It would also represent one of the most serious abuses of state power in the country's recent history, using the machinery of government to engineer an election outcome rather than earn it.

Wanjigi made clear that the consequences would not be limited to Kenyans alone. Ruto, he warned, would eventually feel the weight of this decision personally.

In a country where political fortunes can shift dramatically and accountability has a way of catching up with those in power, it was a warning that carried both legal and political teeth.
