Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has made a serious and explosive allegation following his visit to Rachel Muthoni in hospital, pointing an accusatory finger directly at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over the brutal attack on the woman who tattooed President William Ruto's face on her body.
Sudi visited Rachel at the hospital and came out visibly disturbed by what he saw. He did not mince his words about who he believes is responsible for what happened to her. He called out Gachagua by name, telling him plainly that he cannot escape accountability for what he described as a barbaric and indefensible attack on an innocent woman.
His message to Gachagua was direct and personal. "Mr. Dorcas, hii hautaeupuka," he said, using the nickname that has been widely used to mock the former Deputy President. The tone carried both anger and warning that whoever ordered or inspired the attack will be held to account regardless of their political standing.
Sudi acknowledged that politics in Kenya is a rough game, but drew a firm line at physical violence targeting ordinary citizens. "Hata kama ni siasa, this is not the way to go," he said, arguing that going after someone simply for publicly supporting a political figure crosses every acceptable boundary and represents a level of savagery that cannot be normalised.
Rachel's story has already moved many Kenyans, but Sudi's visit and subsequent allegations have escalated the matter into a direct political confrontation. Whether there is evidence linking Gachagua to the attack remains to be established, but the accusation from a sitting MP carries weight that will be difficult to simply brush aside.
The question of who is truly behind what happened to Rachel Muthoni is now louder than ever.
