Probe Launched After Body Found in Sack and Dumped in Tana River, Machakos Count

Detectives in Machakos County have opened a murder investigation following the shocking discovery of a man’s body stuffed in a sack and abandoned in Tana River.

According to police reports, the body was spotted on Monday in Tumutumu area of Masinga. Officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the remains belonged to a man estimated to be around 43 years old. Preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been killed elsewhere before being dumped in the river. No visible injuries were noted at the time, with the body moved to the mortuary for identification and a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, in Nakuru County, police are investigating another chilling case after the body of Jerusha Machogu was retrieved from a family borehole in Elburgon, Molo. Jerusha’s body, which bore multiple head injuries believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object, was discovered on September 15.

Authorities say the family’s nanny is missing following the incident, while Jerusha’s 80-year-old husband, Pius Machogu, has also not been traced. A houseboy who lived with the family has since been detained for questioning. Relatives raised the alarm after failing to reach the couple, prompting police to launch a search that led to the grim discovery.

Police have maintained that investigations are ongoing, with both cases now under close scrutiny as detectives piece together the motives and hunt for suspects behind the brutal killings.
