The body was received by the military who had been deployed earlier to control the big crowds that had gathered outside the airport waiting for his arrival.
After arriving at the airport the plan to drive Raila's body to the Mamboleo Grounds was changed and instead a chopper was used.
From Nairobi the body was ferried in a military jet which landed in Kisumu after a short time. From the airport the body was airlifted in an helicopter owned by NIS to the Mamboleo Grounds.
This decision was made after it was discovered that thousands of people had flocked the roads for a convoy to escort the body to the stadium.
