According to a viral post by political analyst Wahome, Kalonzo does not need to make a speech because, outside of Raila’s family, he is among the few who truly understood and walked closely with him.
“You don’t need to speak at Raila’s burial. You can’t say enough,” Wahome wrote. “Outside family, you are the only next guy who can tell us about RAO. Forget those repeating the ‘Raila and I’ stories you, Martha Karua, and Uhuru Kenyatta are the only people who knew the political joy and pain of Raila.”
He added that many other leaders attending the funeral were only there to “escort him to Bondo permanently”, implying that few genuinely shared Raila’s struggles and sacrifices.
Wahome’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans agreeing that Kalonzo, Martha, and Uhuru were Raila’s truest political allies, while others argued that many unnamed figures also played vital roles in his long political journey.
