Odinga Family To Take Raila's Legendary Hammer To The Museum For Preservation

A wave of nostalgia has swept through Kenyan political circles after Silas Jakakimba let out new information about the fate of the iconic Raila Odinga campaign hammer vehicle which dominated the campaign trails in 2007.

Jakakimba, an aide and political strategist of long standing, revealed that Raila’s son, Junior Odinga recently confirmed on X that the historic vehicle would be transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Museum in Bondo for preservation.

This decision has been widely celebrated as both timely and symbolic, given how deep into Kenya’s political history the Hammer is.

Jakakimba added a personal touch to the announcement, saying he was among the very first people who set eyes on the vehicle when it was introduced into Raila Odinga’s campaign machinery during the hotly contested 2007 elections.

The Hammer became an instant sensation across the country, often drawing huge crowds wherever it appeared and sealing its place as one of the most recognizable political symbols of that time.

Taking the vehicle to the Jaramogi Museum is seen as a move to secure an important piece of national political heritage. Many have hailed the Odinga family for their move to preserve the Hammer for future generations to see it not only as a campaign tool but also as part of a defining moment in the democratic journey of the country.

With the move under way, the Hammer now makes his transition from road warrior for this campaign to historical artifact securely stored where the Odinga legacy is both honoured and remembered.
