What Ndegwa Njiru Told Ruto After He Said He Is Proud of Being Kenya's President

Prominent lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has hit out at President William Ruto in the wake of the Head of State saying he is proud to be Kenya's President and hopes to leave office in 2032 with a legacy that will be admired across Africa.

According to Njiru, he took exception with Ruto's pride, arguing that leadership should be measured not by titles but by the lived experiences of citizens.

Njiru said the President should go into deep inspection on the state of the nation, if he is indeed proud of what ordinary Kenyans are going through.

He indicated growing public frustrations, the economic squeeze and general discontent, these being realities that served to contradict the picture of progress which the President speaks about.

Njiru said a meaningful legacy cannot be built on promises and political speeches but on justice, accountability, and tangible delivery.

He said that what Kenyans see today is not transformation but leadership that constantly explains away failures, shifts blame, or provides excuses instead of solutions.

He emphasized that Kenyans want relief, not rhetoric, and that a government seeking to leave behind a continental legacy must first address the suffering at home.

He thinks that if the administration goes on as it is, the only legacy it risks building is one of unfulfilled promises.
