"Sikutarajia Utanisaliti" Sifuna Reveals How Simba Arati And MP Osoro Betrayed Him During His Removal As ODM SG

On Friday Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna used the funeral of Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka's mother, Mama Teresia, to settle some scores and he did not hold back.

Standing before mourners, Sifuna called out two men he says were once his friends but turned their backs on him when he was removed as ODM Secretary General

The two men were South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and Kisii Governor Simba Arati. His message to Osoro was blunt and laced with Luhya pride.

"Hakuna siku tutakula na wewe. Kama mluhya, wacha njaa iniume," he said. Translated, he was telling Osoro plainly they will never eat together, and he would rather go hungry than share a table with him.

He then turned his attention to Arati, and the tone shifted from anger to disappointment.

"Sikutarajia siku nitasalitiwa," Sifuna said, expressing how deeply the betrayal stung. He had not expected it from Arati. But he was not done.

He flipped the script quickly. If Arati was among those who said "Sifuna must go," then Sifuna had a response ready "Simba must go."

It was a sharp and calculated moment. A funeral is an unlikely place for such confrontations, but Sifuna clearly felt the gathering gave him the audience he needed.

The remarks revealed just how bitter the fallout from his removal as SG has been. What looked like a political reshuffle from the outside was, for Sifuna, a deeply personal betrayal by people he considered allies.

He may have lost the title, but on that day in Kisii, he made sure everyone knew exactly how he felt about those who let him go.
