Why There Were Last Minute Changes To Fly Raila's Body From Kisumu Airport Instead Of Going By Road

On Saturday morning there were uprupt changes in the manner in which the body of former prime minister Raila Odinga was transported from the Kisumu Airport to Mamboleo Grounds for the viewing exercise by locals.

Initially as announced by the presidential funeral committee the body was to be flown to Kisumu then driven to the stadium for the viewing exercise.

However, on arrival the plan changed and the body was flown on an helicopter to the stadium, a flight that lasted less than five minutes.

This move was made after it was discovered that the journey by road would take a long time given the big crowds that had come out to receive Raila's body.

The roundabout at Kondele was flooded with hundreds of people and would have made it difficult for the convoy to get through.

This clever move actually saved time and the body viewing exercise started early unlike if they had taken the road.
