Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a sharp warning to President William Ruto, accusing him of repeatedly attacking former President Uhuru Kenyatta and threatening to reveal sensitive information if the criticism continues. Gachagua said he has remained silent for a long time but could speak out if pushed further.
Speaking during a public engagement, Gachagua claimed he was privy to deep political dealings and decisions made at the highest level of government. He warned that continued attacks on Uhuru would force him to break his silence.
Gachagua accused President Ruto of turning Uhuru into a political punching bag to settle old scores. He said such attacks were unnecessary and disrespectful to a former Head of State.
The former deputy president also alleged that some current political narratives were being driven by fear of Uhuru’s growing influence. He said Uhuru had every right to express himself as a retired president.
Gachagua further stated that he would not allow history to be rewritten unfairly. He said attempts to blame Uhuru for current economic and political challenges were misleading.
He cautioned that continued provocation could open a political chapter many would prefer to keep closed. According to him, the truth would be uncomfortable for those currently in power.
The remarks come amid rising political tension between allies of President Ruto and figures linked to Uhuru. The fallout has exposed widening cracks within the broader Kenya Kwanza political family.
